Dear Colleague,
Rural and low-density territories are currently facing profound social, environmental and economic transformations. Understanding these changes and identifying effective pathways towards more resilient and sustainable rural futures will be at the centre of RURDYNAMIX 2026.
We are pleased to invite you to submit a contribution to the International Conference on Rural Dynamics and Resilience, taking place from 27 to 29 November 2026 in Baião, Portugal.
Organised by the University of Porto and the Rural Move Association, in partnership with the Municipality of Baião, the conference will bring together researchers, policymakers, practitioners and territorial stakeholders from different countries and disciplinary backgrounds.
Submissions are welcomed for oral and poster presentations addressing topics such as:
- Rural societies, communities and demographic change
• Rural innovation and entrepreneurship
• Territorial planning, governance and landscape
• Climate adaptation and territorial resilience
• Tourism, heritage and territorial promotion
• Security, migration and human mobility
Interdisciplinary contributions, comparative studies, applied research and experiences connecting academic knowledge with territorial practice are particularly encouraged.
RURDYNAMIX 2026 is held under the High Patronage of the President of the Portuguese Republic and under the auspices of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Dr Alain Berset.
Further information on the thematic areas, submission process, registration and practical arrangements is available on the conference website: https://rurdynamix.ruralmove.org/
An online presentation option may also be considered for authors unable to attend in person, subject to approval by the Organising Committee.
We would be delighted to receive your contribution and to welcome you to Baião for three days of scientific exchange and discussion on the future of rural territories.
With kind regards,
The Organising Committee
